Purl — Privacy Policy
Last updated 1 September 2026
Purl collects nothing. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no trackers, and no server of its own. Nothing you do in the app is sent anywhere, because the app does not send anything anywhere.
What the app stores, and where
- Your settings — volume, sleep timer preference, screen dimming and the sounds you last played. Stored on your device only.
- Your recordings — if you record a shush, hum or lullaby, the audio file is written to Purl’s private storage on your device. It is never uploaded, never shared, and no one but you can hear it. Deleting a recording in the app deletes the file. Uninstalling Purl deletes all of them.
None of this leaves your phone or tablet, and none of it is readable by us. There is no “sync”, no backup to our systems, and no account to attach it to.
The microphone
Purl asks for microphone permission for one purpose: recording your own sound when you tap record. Recording happens only while you hold that screen and start it yourself. The app never listens in the background, never monitors a room, and never transmits audio. You can refuse the permission and use every other part of the app; you can revoke it later in your device settings.
Data we collect: none
We do not collect personal information, usage statistics, device identifiers, crash reports, advertising IDs, or location. Purl contains no analytics SDK and no advertising SDK. The bundled sounds are generated at build time and ship inside the app, so it works fully offline and makes no network requests in normal use.
Purchases
Purl is paid once, up front, on the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. The purchase is handled entirely by the store, under Google’s and Apple’s own privacy policies. We never see your payment details. The stores report sales to us only in aggregate.
Children
Purl is a tool for parents and carers, intended to be operated by an adult. Since the app collects no data from anyone, it collects none from children either.
Your rights
Rights to access, correct, export or erase personal data apply to data a company holds about you. We hold none. Everything Purl creates lives on your device and is yours to delete at any time — remove individual recordings in the app, or uninstall the app to remove all of it at once.
Changes
If a future version of Purl ever handles data differently, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the date above will change.
